Presenting the Artist:
Bing Phung is an Edmonton-based artist and art instructor whose work reflects a rich blend of cultural heritage and natural inspiration. Having immigrated from Vietnam in the 1980s, he brings a unique perspective shaped by both his early experiences and his life in Canada.
Bing began his creative career as a graphic artist before transitioning into painting, where he has found a deeper connection to expression and storytelling. His work is strongly influenced by the striking landscapes of Alberta’s provincial and national parks, as well as the flowing river valleys that define Edmonton’s scenery. Through his art, Bing captures both the tranquility and energy of the natural world.
As an instructor, he shares his knowledge and passion with others, helping students develop both technical skills and creative confidence. He is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour as well as Exhibing member of the Society of Western Canadian Artists; reflecting his ongoing commitment to artistic excellence and community.

As an artist, I am endlessly captivated by the beauty and wonder of the world around us. My artistic journey has been shaped by my experiences as an immigrant from Vietnam, the vibrant cityscape of Edmonton, and the breathtaking landscapes of Alberta’s parks.
Through my artwork, I strive to convey a deep sense of connection and reverence for nature. Immersed in the serenity of Alberta’s provincial and national parks, and inspired by the sprawling river valley systems that grace Edmonton, I find my muse. Each stroke of my brush is an expression of my profound appreciation for the natural world.
Watercolors allows me to capture the delicate nuances and ethereal qualities of the scenes that inspire me. I aim to create artworks that not only evoke a sense of beauty but also invite viewers to pause, reflect, and find solace in the peacefulness of nature.
Drawing from my background as a graphic artist, I bring a unique blend of technical precision and artistic expression to my paintings. Through careful composition, harmonious color palettes, and intricate details, I aim to transport viewers into the very heart of the landscapes I portray.
